Coming off his sensational original horror thriller “Barbarian,” writer/director Zach Cregger is back this summer with “Weapons,” which stars Julia Garner (“The Fantastic Four: First Steps”) and Josh Brolin (“Outer Banks”) as the studio has sent over a new trailer to share.
In “Weapons,” Cregger has moved away from the dank and labyrinth-like basement for the chilling tale of a small town dealing with the aftermath of a group of school children going missing, only for even more horrific events to take place. However, the creepy factor is still in full swing, as we’re getting some major “Village of The Damned” and “Children of The Corn” vibes from the new summer movie.

Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan are among the supporting cast.
Of course, there seems to be an underlying spoilery aspect or twist to “Weapons” that is being mostly hidden from the promotional material (although, the creepy kids seem to hinting to something else is going on), but audiences will have to find that out for themselves once the main story unfolds on the big screen.
An official synopsis for “Weapons” via New Line Cinema:
When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance.
Cregger is continuing his streak of dabbling in the horror genre with his next movie after “Weapons,” but is making the move to studio IP with a new reboot film based on the beloved Capcom horror surivial video game “Resident Evil” for Sony Pictures that is said to see him reunite with Abrams as he’s reportedly eyeing a lead role.
You can watch that new trailer for “Weapons” and get ready for the pic’s release on August 8.
