‘Wednesday’ Trailer: Tim Burton Reveals Fred Armisen As His Uncle Fester

What’s Tim Burton up to, you ask? Well, after 2019’s Disney foray with the live-action remake of “Dumbo,” he’s back to the franchise route and staying in his spooky lane with “Wednesday,” a new take on “The Addams Family” franchise. As you likely heard by now, “Wednesday” centers on the titular Wednesday Addams family member, played by Jenna Ortega, and the film is now a series is now a Netflix series with a huge cast.

During New York Comic-Con, Burton and Netflix filled in one of the last pieces of the character pie: Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester. The central family is rounded out by Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams) and Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams), Fred Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams), Iman Marson (Lucas Walker), Lucius Hoyos (Young Gomez).

But the series has a huge cast as it centers on Wednesday’s years in high school: Nevermore Academy, where she gets embroiled in a big mystery.

The cast also includes Gwendoline Christie (Principal Larissa Weems), Jamie McShane (Sheriff Galpin), Percy Hynes White (Xavier Thorpe), Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Naomi J Ogawa (Yoko Tanaka), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene Ottinger), Georgie Farmer (Ajax Petropolus), Riki Lindhome (Dr. Valerie Kinbott) with Christina Ricci (Marilyn Thornhill).

From the imagination of Tim Burton, WEDNESDAY is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the murder mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
