With "Daredevil" off and running to solid acclaim, and "Jessica Jones" launching today with strong notices, Marvel‘s Netflix series have allowed the studio to show a grittier side, and still command a large audience. But all year, reports were that things haven’t been so rosy regarding the development of "Iron Fist." Over the summer it was said that Marvel couldn’t figure out a way into an adaptation, and just last month it was suggested it might be scrapped altogether. But, don’t believe everything you see online.
IGN (via Comic Book Movie) put the question about the state of "Iron Fist" to Marvel’s Joe Quesada and he dismissed any notion that there was trouble in paradise. " ‘Iron Fist’ is being worked on, that’s all I can say," he stated, while he responded to rumors that the property might be turned into a TV movie by quipping,"Where did you read these rumors, the internet? Then they must be true!"
So, basically, everyone chill, and maybe go watch "Jessica Jones." Speaking of which, could Punisher get his own series? "We’d love to do something with [the character] but it’s way too early to tell. We don’t like to discuss which metrics we use to decide [which character gets a spinoff]. What I can tell you is that anyone who is a hardcore Punisher fan is going to be blown away and incredibly satisfied by Bernthal’s take on Frank Castle. It’s one of those cases where it’s the character from the pages, come to life," Quesada said.
Chalk everything up to a maybe, and as always, nothing is official until Marvel says so.
