Got a Tip?

Will Ferrell Will Produce ‘Overnight,’ Kevin Bacon Joins Johnny Depp’s ‘Black Mass’ & More

Will FerrellEven though they lost, the United States soccer team is moving up to the next round at the World Cup, and Will Ferrell didn’t even have to bite anyone. So now he can get back to the business of making movies, and the always-busy actor has yet another project brewing.

Steve Pink ("Hot Tub Time Machine," "About Last Night") has ben hired to helm "Overnight," which is being produced by Ferrell’s Gary Sanchez Productions as a potential vehicle for the funnyman. The plot is said to be like "Home Alone" but set in a toy store. Not the most original idea, but hey, put Ferrell in it and we’ll be there. That said, currently he’s only set to produce and not star. Nick Frost, Hope Davis and Adelaide Clemens will star in the black comedy "Look Away." Monty Whitebloom and Andy Delaney — aka BigTV! — are directing this one about "a young woman suffering from so-called ‘selective blindness’ that leaves her unable to see her own mother (Davis). In search of a cure, she sees a therapist (Frost), who’s in love with her and, having Asperger’s, is unable to empathize." That actually sounds pretty hilarious, and the script comes from Jennifer Schuur of "Big Love" fame so we’re curious to see if this will live up to the premise. Production starts in August. And the cast keeps growing for the Martin Scorsese- and Mick Jagger-produced HBO rock ‘n roll drama. Joe Caniano, Andrew “Dice” Clay, Ato Essandoh, Robert Funaro, James Jagger, Birgitte Sorenson, and J.C. Mackenzie are now on board alongside Bobby Cannavale, Ray Romano, Olivia Wilde, Juno Temple and Jack Quaid in the show that will be set in "1970s New York and explores the drug- and sex-fueled music business as punk and disco were breaking out, all through the eyes of record executive Richie Finestra, who is trying to resurrect his label and find the next new sound." In case you’re wondering, the Diceman will play a character who is "obnoxious." [Deadline]

Wes Bentley and Jamie Alexander are making some "Broken Vows." The pair will star in the psychological thriller about "a charming yet troubled man named Patrick (Bentley) who seduces Tara (Alexander), but when she rejects him, he is sent spiraling into madness and delusion, erupting into psychotic rage." Bram Coppens directs with filming starting soon. [THR]

Kevin Bacon is keeping busy, and with "6 Miranda Drive" and "Cop Car" already occupying his hiatus from "The Following," he’s adding one more movie: Johnny Depp‘s "Black Mass." Already rolling, "Bacon will play Charles McGuire, the FBI Special Agent in charge of the Boston field office and John Connelly’s boss," in the pic that tells the saga of gangster Whitey Bulger and his unusual relationship with the FBI.
