Got a Tip?

Will Nostalgia, 3D Surcharges & Live-Action/CGI Rule Again? News ‘Smurfs 2’ Poster & Image Of The Naughties

null"I guarantee, if you’re a Smurf fan and you see this movie, you’ll see the Smurfs that you grew up with and you’ll see The Smurfs movie that you want,"  "The Smurfs" auteur Raja Gosnell ("Big Momma's House," "Scooby-Doo," "Beverly Hills Chihuahua") said on the eve of the hybrid live-action/CGI feature's release last year. And while that remains to be seen, since no one we know actually saw "The Smurfs," clearly it was the Smurfs movie for many audiences, as the picture went on to gross a whopping $563 million worldwide. Clearly nostalgia aimed at parents — with kids that will like the picture regardless of whether they grew up with it or not — should never be underestimated.

Smelling sequel dollars aplenty, Sony greenlit two more "Smurfs" movies, the first of which arrives in theaters on July 13, 2013 ("The Smurfs 3" lands in the summer of 2015). They are also making a similarly-conceptualized "Alf" movie because, '80s, kids, money and why not?

Two new characters in the series have been introduced, "The Naughties." Vexy (voiced by Christina Ricci) and Hackus (JB Smoove) who are two of Gargamel's latest monsters. "They're not bad, they're misguided," Gosnell told EW recently. "They're just products of their upbringing. And they haven't had the best upbringing, let's say." You probably don't care. But your friend's kids might. A new teaser poster has been unveiled as well from Moviefonenull
