There were many, many things wrong with “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” and even if you didn’t see it (like this writer) you were aware of the jive talking autobots “Skids” and “Mudflap,” voiced by “Spongebob Squarepants” Tom Kenny and Reno Wilson from “Crank: High Voltage.” Their names alone seem to get everyone worked up, likening them to Jar Jar Binks and denouncing the film for using old African American stereotypes for comedic effect. With all the heat (and basically only having to say “Oh come on guys” in reference to the issue), Michael Bay has apparently let his annoying twins out of the cage for “Transformers 3.” Or has he?
The Transformers Live Action Movie Blog (seriously?) has spotted the cars that they transform from in downtown LA, around where the third film is shooting. The scene was not caught on tape (likely story), but another scene in which a car is thrown down an alley was shot. This is apparently one of the twins’ opponents, and it’s likely one of them throwing the car down the alley. The cars they transform out of were also spotted around the area. The sheep at TFLAMB reported the slight bit of news “…no surprise but nice to know for sure.” Well, it’s actually not for sure at all. Screenrant reports that Bay simply states on his website “The twins are not back in TF3.” Hallelujah!
It’s understandable why people were so up in arms over the twins — aside from being sort of offensive, they were just horrible, horrible characters in a film already filled with enough bad acting to fill fifty third rate acting schools. The last thing it needed was the ear-screeching chatter of two shuckin’ and jivin’ robots. Although Screenrant goes on to speculate if the twins will be killed off (which would sort of awesomely poetic), it’s likely that they won’t appear at all judging from the tone of Bay’s latest entry.
Also reported is the addition Kym Whitley (“Black Dynamite”) to the already the bloated cast that includes the likes of Patrick Dempsey, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich and Ken Jeong. Eclectic to say the least. The film is shooting now and will be ready for July 1st, 2011.
