This year, we’ve already seen Will Smith in blockbuster mode, kicking ass alongside the rest of the gang in “Suicide Squad.” But the Fresh Prince can also be an awards season force, and he’ll be on the hunt this year with “Collateral Beauty.”

Directed by David Frankel (“Marley & Me,” “The Devil Wears Prada“) all that’s known about the story is that it follows a man who slips into depression following a tragedy and embarks on an unconventional method to get his life back together. Speaking with EW, Smith describes the movie as a “Christmas dramedy” and that, “It’s a little bit ‘It’s a Wonderful Life‘ and a little bit ‘The Wizard of Oz.’ ” Color us intrigued.
Co-starring Edward Norton, Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren and Keira Knightley, “Collateral Beauty” opens on December 16th. Yep, the same day as “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”
