Skogland directs a script from Patrick Massett John Zinman for the sequel. “The Next Chapter” follows Martin Sensmeier‘s Chip Hanson, son of Birmingham’s Martin, a newly minted tracker for the US Fish & Game service enlisted to help the FBI solve a string of ritualistic killings on the reservation he calls home. No news on who the new cast members play yet, but production on the film is already underway in Calgary, Alberta.

Birmingham is a Taylor Sheridan regular, having also starred in “Hell Or High Water” and Paramount Network‘s “Yellowstone.” Other recent roles include Hulu‘s “Under The Banner Of Heaven.”

Best known as Cameron from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and his role in the Michael J. Fox sitcom Spin City,” Ruck’s more recent work include the Blumhouse horror “Freaky.” Up next, he has “The Burial” on Prime Video with Jurnee SmollettTommy Lee Jones, and Jamie Foxx.

Reis may be the most notable addition in the new castings thanks to being co-lead for HBO‘s upcoming fourth season of “True Detective,” subtitled “Night Country.” The actress had her breakout in 2021 with “Catch The Fair One.”

Means has a slew of intriguing upcoming projects, including a role as a Native American FBI agent in Martin Scorsese‘s “Killers Of The Flower Moon.” He also has the Marvel Disney+ series “Echo” on the way, as well as Kevin Costner‘s long-gestating epic western “Horizon.” Other acting credits for Means include FX‘s hit show “Reservation Dogs.”

Between these new additions and Clarke, Eastwood, and Spencer, “Wind River: The Next Chapter” could be an awesome return to feature films for Skogland, who’s worked exclusively in TV since her last movie in 2008. But Skogland has big shoes to fill, as Sheridan’s “Wind River” is one of his finest outings.
