One of the things fans enjoy most about the MCU is just how interconnected everything is. Over the past 15-ish years, Marvel Studios has created a universe that spans more than two dozen films and multiple TV series, allowing for some characters to venture through multiple different franchises. Oddly enough, one of those characters is Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery, who started as a pseudo-villain in “Iron Man 3” and reappeared in “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” as comedic relief. Well, it appears Slattery’s MCU life is still going strong, as he’s set to appear in the upcoming “Wonder Man” series.
According to Variety, Ben Kingsley is set to reprise his role as Trevor Slattery in the upcoming “Wonder Man” Disney+ streaming series. Not much else is known at this time, as “Wonder Man” still hasn’t been officially announced by Marvel Studios and the company is hardly ever forthcoming with this information. That said, if we were to pick a perfect next stop for Trevor Slattery, “Wonder Man” would be it. Plus, the reports say that Marvel Studios is hoping to make “Wonder Man” more of a Hollywood satire. The pieces just seem to be falling into place, huh?
In the comics, Wonder Man, aka Simon Williams, is the heir of a failing weapons manufacturer who gains powers and fights against the Avengers before eventually joining their ranks. But the real meat of the story comes later when Williams decides to use his new superpowers to become a great stuntman and actor in Hollywood. Enter Trevor Slattery, who is a bumbling former actor always looking for his next gig. Of course, these two actors should cross paths.
Outside of Kingsley’s reported involvement, “Wonder Man” is said to be produced by Daniel Destin Cretton (director of ‘Shang-Chi’ and the upcoming “Avengers: Kang Dynasty) and written by Andrew Guest. Again, it must be stated that Marvel Studios has yet to confirm any of this information. That said, D23 is just around the corner, so we could be looking at a lot of fun announcements about “Wonder Man” coming at that point.
