Even as Xavier Dolan has gone from Quebecois wunderkind director to internationally known, award-winning filmmaker, there’s one gig that the occasional actor has never given up: voiceover work. In Quebec, Dolan is known as the French voice for Ron Weasley in the “Harry Potter” films, and has lent his voice skills to a variety of films including “Inside Out” (as Fear), “The Hunger Games” (as Peeta), “Life Of Pi” (as Pi Patel), and the “Twilight” movies (as Jacob Black). Now, for French speaking audiences, one summer blockbuster will have his name front and center.
Seance Radio has revealed that that Dolan will dub Dane DeHaan‘s role in Luc Besson‘s sci-fi flick, “Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets.” While Dolan’s voiceover work has generally been for French Quebec, I would assume in this case it’ll be heard in France as well. The actor joins actress/singer Soko, who will do the voice for Cara Delevingne. Unless you track down the French version of ‘Valerian,’ you probably won’t hear Dolan’s work, but it’s an interesting slice of trivia nonetheless.
The director is currently in post-production on “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan” starring Jessica Chastain, Kit Harington, Taylor Kitsch, Kathy Bates, Susan Sarandon, Natalie Portman, Nicholas Hoult, and Thandie Newton. “Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets” opens on July 21st.
