Every couple of months or so this past year, it seems there’s word of a new version of classic story “Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde,” usually with a variety of more-or-less starry names attached. We’ve had Nicholas Winding Refn having to pull out of a Keanu Reeves-starring “Jekyll,” Abel Ferrera’s take with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson suffering its own doubts and delays, and Guillermo del Toro currently has another version listed as project no. 6 of 12 in his “in development” section on IMDB. Heat Vision reports that Skydance Productions, Dark Horse Entertainment and producer Mark Gordon will be adapting Cole Haddon’s comic “The Strange Case of Hyde” which takes a more whimsical-sounding approach to the story, making the troubled titular character the “center of a Victorian-era action-adventure that sees him go head-to-head against a historical villain.” Haddon will adapt the comic himself and says of Jekyll/Hyde: “I’m excited to be playing a part in restoring him to his proper place in the pantheon of movie monsters: at the top of the food chain.” — Jessica Kiang
