As far as indie matchups go, pairing Zoe Kazan and Jake Johnson? Yeah, we don't even need to know what it's about, and we'll be there. But in case you need a few more details to go on, read below.
Deadline reports that the duo are set to star in "The Pretty One," a quirky comedy (of course) penned by Jenee LaMarque that made the Black List last year. She'll be making her directorial debut on the film about a woman who, after her identical and “prettier” twin sister dies, assumes her sister’s identity, and moves into her apartment in the big city. She winds up falling in love with a neighbor, forcing her to want to reveal the truth about who she really is.
The pic is another stepping stone for both actors who are seeing their profiles rise considerably in 2012. For Kazan, she features in "Ruby Sparks" — Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris' long awaited followup to "Little Miss Sunshine" (which Kazan also wrote) — hitting theaters this summer. As for Johnson, he's got a lot of eyes on him now thanks to his co-starring role in the Fox sitcom "The New Girl," and after stealing laughs in "21 Jump Street" and featuring in "Safety Not Guaranteed" later this year, he's going to be on more radars than ever.
"The Pretty One" starts shooting in June in Los Angeles.
