Got a Tip?

‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ Trailer: A New Gang Will Nut Up Or Shut Up Or Whatever

After a decade, the wait is almost over. “Zombieland: Double Tap” is back with another trailer before it drops in theaters later this month. The zombie comedy sees the return of its core group of survivors, played by Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin continuing to face the challenges of life after the apocalypse. The sequel to the 2009 smash hit seems to continue on with the original’s survival road trip motif.

Each of these actors is Academy Award-winners/nominees, as the first trailer humorously points out. Zombieland has quite a different tone than, say The Social Network or La La Land. So it’ll be fun to see the youngest three of the group return to roles that garnered them attention before the Academy took notice. Harrelson, of course, earned his first Oscar nomination when the other three were just youngsters. Stone is the only one of the group to actually take home the trophy.

Rosario Dawson, Zoey Deutch, Luke Wilson, and Thomas Middleditch join the fun this time around as fellow survivors of the zombie apocalypse, all of whom continued to be named after the city they previously resided in. The 2009 film brought in Bill Murray for one of the best movie cameos in recent memory. Here’s hoping that the sequel will introduce us to a zombified Murray.

The film opens in theaters on October 18. Here’s the official synopsis for “Zombieland: Double Tap.”

Through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, these four slayers must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.
