Disney has shared with us a final/international trailer for the highly anticipated animated sequel to their billion-dollar hit “Zootopia,” as “Zootopia 2” is gearing up to be released next month. Judy and Nick are back as the crime-solving duo in a world of talking anthropomorphic animals.
That’s not it, as the studio has announced that actors from previous Disney animated projects (“Moana,” “Frozen,” “Encanto” and “The Princess and the Frog”), that new lineup features Dwayne Johnson, Auliʻi Cravalho, Josh Gad, Stephanie Beatriz, Wilmer Valderrama, John Leguizamo, Anika Noni Rose, Rachel House, and David Fane, will be part of the sequel’s voice cast with some of those characters being Zeke, Anti-Venom Pen, Gramma Taller, Truffler, Paul Moledebrant, Squeal of Fortune Mouse, Bloats, Higgins, and Anthony.

Those new additions to the lineup join returning leads Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman alongside Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan (“Loki,” “Everything Everywhere All At Once”), Andy Samberg (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), David Strathairn (“Good Night, and Good Luck”), Macaulay Culkin (“John Candy: I Like Me”) and Brenda Song (“The Last Showgirl”) Comedian Fortune Feimster (“Crushing It”) as the voice of Nibbles Maplestick, an oddball beaver whose podcast explores reptile mysteries; Idris Elba (“Heads of State”) returns as Chief Bogo, the well-respected head of the Zootopia Police Department; Patrick Warburton (“The Emperor’s New Groove”) voices actor-turned-politician Mayor Brian Winddancer; Shakira (“Zootopia”) returns as the voice of Zootopia’s biggest pop star, Gazelle; Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”) stars as Dr. Fuzzby, an adorable quokka therapy animal; Robert Irwin (“Dancing with the Stars”) joins the cast as the cute koala Robert Furwin; and Nate Torrence (“Get Smart”) reprises his role as Clawhauser, ZPD’s charming cheetah receptionist.
The Oscar-winning team of Jared Bush and Byron Howard (directors) and Yvett Merino (producer) is the group assembled as the principal filmmakers on the sequel.
Here is the new movie’s synopsis as provided by the folks at Disney:
In “Zootopia 2,” rookie cops Judy Hopps (Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Bateman) find themselves on the twisting trail of a great mystery when Gary De’Snake (Quan) arrives in Zootopia and turns the animal metropolis upside down. To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before.
After some recent box office misfires, we have to assume Disney is hoping for an easy slam dunk with “Zootopia 2,” given how popular the original installment was back in 2016, nearly ten years ago (Wow, it doesn’t feel that long ago).
You can watch that final trailer for “Zootopia 2” as the Disney flick hits theaters on November 26.
