“Girls” actress Zosia Mamet has detailed the reasoning behind her hasty exit from an unnamed TV series, claiming its showrunner was belligerent and nasty to her in front of the crew.
Writing a piece for The Hollywood Reporter, Mament detailed the events surrounding her abrupt exit from an unnamed show, where she was screamed at and berated in front of the cast and crew by the showrunner, who questioned her abilities as an actress; nobody stood up to defend her. Fuelling that departure from the acclaimed series, as she still had four more episodes to shoot for that season, but was understandably fed up.
“Eventually, he gave up or got bored. But this lasted for about half an hour. And nobody stopped it. Everyone just stared at their shoes while he screamed at me. Eventually, we finished the blocking rehearsal and shot the scene. I finished my day. I walked to my car, called my agents, and told them I quit. I was supposed to do four more episodes that season, not including the one I was on, but I told them I didn’t care what they had to do, I didn’t care if the network sued me, I refused to go back on that set for one more day than I actually had to. I don’t remember anything else about the rest of that shoot. I think I’ve blocked it out.”
You can’t really blame her either. Respect should be number one in the workplace and reflects more on the showrunner than it does on her.
Although Mamet avoids naming the showrunner, series, or any cast members, fans quickly began speculating and pointed to “Mad Men” and “Matthew Weiner “as the most likely targets. Mamet appeared as Joyce Ramsay in seasons 4 and 5 as an assistant photo editor at “Life” magazine. She appeared in five episodes and then was never seen again.
