Angelina Jolie Pitt Exits ‘Murder On The Orient Express,’ Charlize Theron Eyed As Replacement

It looks like Kenneth Branagh‘s “Murder On The Orient Express” will have to find a new first-class passenger.

Earlier this year, Angelia Jolie Pitt was in early talks to star in the remake, but it looks like those didn’t pan out as Variety reports that the actress has ultimately passed on the part. So the studio is now turning to see what other high-wattage talent they can attract, with Charlize Theron apparently among those being considered.

Based on the novel by Agatha Christie, and following Sidney Lumet‘s beloved Oscar-nominated version from 1974 which featured Albert Finney, Lauren Bacall, Vanessa Redgrave, Ingrid Bergman, Sean Connery, and John Gielgud, this new take has a script from Michael Green (“Alien: Covenant,” “Blade Runner 2“) that will tackle the mystery famed crime-solver Hercule Poirot will investigate when a murder occurs on the luxurious train.

The project is set up over at 20th Century Fox, and with a release date pegged for November 22, 2017, they are certain this will be one of their prestige projects. But first it’ll require assembling some top-shelf talent, so it’ll be interesting to see who comes along for the ride.
