The filmmaker of “Moon” and “Warcraft” took to Twitter in the wake of the recent news that Warner Bros. was pursuing a “Lethal Weapon“-in-space approach (lol) to “Green Lantern Corps” and made it clear that he wouldn’t direct the project (not that he was rumored or anything), breaking down the problems with the character and what he thinks the take should be (again, he’s not directing, and doesn’t want to):
Green Lantern should be about a simple-minded jock who has to come up with imaginative, new ideas every time he uses the ring.

The hook in the "dumb jock" version of Green Lantern is that he has the power, but lacks the wits to use it. Endearingly frustrating.

Well, the ball is your court, Warner Bros., at least as far it goes with Duncan Jones. Certainly, whoever is hired to make the movie will have a few hurdles to overcome, not least erasing the memory of the Ryan Reynolds-starring “Green Lantern” from 2011.
