The new season of “Twin Peaks” awaits, and many David Lynch fans might be diving into the director’s back catalog to prepare. But devotees in the U.K. are getting an extra treat as a new, 4K restoration of “Mulholland Drive” is hitting the big screen.
The director’s 2001 masterpiece starring Naomi Watts, Justin Theroux, and Laura Harring is a haunting, nightmarish journey into the dark side of Los Angeles, with Lynch at the height of his storytelling powers. Here’s the official synopsis:
Beautiful, bizarre and strangely addictive, the film begins as a botched hit results in the meeting of brunette amnesiac Rita (Laura Harring – Love in the Time of Cholera) and blonde would-be Hollywood actress Betty (Naomi Watts – Birdman, 21 Grams). Taking the viewer on a memorable neo-noir trip through Hollywood’s dark underbelly, Lynch dispenses with a conventional narrative in favour of a hallucinogenic assault on the senses that will stay with you long after the credits roll.
“Mulholland Drive” is back on the big screen in the U.K. on April 14th.
