Barring any last minute changes of heart, or 20th Century Fox sending daily dump trucks full of money to the front step of Hugh Jackman‘s house, next spring’s “Logan” will mark the actor’s final outing as Wolverine. However, if Ryan Reynolds has his way, he’s going to get the same fanbase that rallied “Deadpool” into existence after the test reel of footage “leaked” to persuade Jackman to grow the mutton chops one more time.
Chatting with Entertainment Weekly, Reynolds revealed that he wants bring his mutant and Jackman’s together on the big screen. “I want Deapdool and Wolverine in a movie together,” he said. “What we’re gonna have to do is convince Hugh. If anything, I’m going to need to do what I can to get my internet friends back on board to help rally another cause down the line.”
The actor goes on to say that he thinks it would be an inspired pairing, and it’s hard to disagree with that. But again, Jackman is ready to hang it all up, so getting him to return again won’t be an easy feat. But if fanboys could help make “Deadpool” happen, I suppose anything is possible. It’s worth remembering, though, that Reynolds’ wishlist also includes an X-Force movie, so this could all be pie in the sky. And at this point, that’s all it really is.
“Deadpool 2” starts filming next year.
