If there’s anyone we’d want to be our guide into the fiery depths of volcanoes around the world, it’s Werner Herzog. The master director, and one of the best documentary filmmakers working today, has once again got his passport out for “Into The Inferno,” for what looks like another perfectly Herzog-ian journey into the unknown.
Teaming up with volcanologist Clive Oppenheimer (who clearly has the best job ever), the director goes around the world to uncover the link between mankind and volcanoes, speaking both with scientists and civilians, to give the topic a well-rounded humanity. Here’s the synopsis:
Werner Herzog and volcanologist Clive Oppenheimer embark upon a global journey exploring some of the world’s most mythical volcanoes in North Korea, Ethiopia, Iceland and the Vanuatu Archipelago. Speaking with scientists and indigenous peoples alike, they seek to understand the complex and deeply rooted relationship between mankind and one of nature’s greatest wonders.
“Into The Inferno” arrives on Netflix on October 28th.
