Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know the mighty Radiohead released their long-awaited ninth studio album, A Moon Shaped Pool, back in mid May. Paul Thomas Anderson directed the video for the single “Daydreaming” and since the release, they’ve asked various filmmakers to make digital short vignettes for them set to songs from their most recent release.
Contributions have come from U.K. new auteur Richard Ayoade, Polish director Michal Marczak, Weirdcore, Adam Buxton, and Oscar Hudson. Today they have released perhaps their most notable mini-collaboration with Yorgos Lanthimos, the celebrated Greek director of “The Lobster” and generally regarded as one of the most exciting new international filmmakers out there.

Set to “Identikit” from Radiohead’s new album, the clip is typically brief, a little strange and a little vague. But this is Radiohead we’re talking about, so the clip is apropos. It also stars French actor Denis Lavant, whom you probably know from the films of Leos Carax — “Holy Motors” in particular, and for his roles in Claire Denis’ “Beau Travail” and Harmony Korine‘s “Mister Lonely,” to name a few.
More shorts are sure to come as “Identikit” has been used twice in these shorts and there are many more tracks on the album to use as visual companionship. Watch the clip below as well as a few other Radiohead shorts.
