“Industry”
Created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, HBO’s critically acclaimed “Industry” follows a group of young graduates competing for permanent positions at a prestigious but ruthless investment bank company in London. And as we’ve repeated often, now that “Succession” is gone, it feels like the show is about to finally have its moment on mainstream TV beyond just adoration of critics. Some of its cast have become big, up-and-coming stars, Marisa Abela, who starred in “Back To Black,” and Myha’la Herrold, known for “Bodies Bodies Bodies.” The show also features Harry Lawtey, David Jonsson, and Ken Leung, and in three seasons, they are joined by “Games Of Thrones” star Kit Harington and “Barry” actress Sarah Goldberg.
Premiere Date: August 11 on HBO.
“Bad Monkey”
Developed and executive produced by Bill Lawrence (co-creator of “Ted Lasso”), “Bad Monkey” stars Vince Vaughn stars as a former Miami Police Department who has been demoted to the health inspector in the Florida Keys. But after stumbling on a severed arm, he realizes that if he can prove murder, he’ll be back into the Miami PD, but a world of greed and corruption makes this goal much more complicated. The series features quite the cast, too, including Michelle Monaghan, Jodie Turner-Smith, Meredith Hagner, Rob Delaney, Natalie Martinez, L. Scott Caldwell, Ronald Peet, Alex Moffat, and John Ortiz.
Premiere Date: August 14 on Apple TV+.
“Emily in Paris” (Season 4)
After the dramatic events of Camille (Camille Razat) and Gabriel’s (Lucas Bravo) misbegotten wedding in season 3, Emily (Lily Collins) is reeling: She has strong feelings for two men, but now Gabriel’s expecting a baby with his ex, and Alfie’s worst fears about her and Gabriel have been confirmed. Season 4 stars also stars Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, and William Abadie.
Premiere Date: Part 1 premieres on August 15, followed by Part 2 on September 12, 2024 on Netflix.
“Pachinko” (Season 2)
Based on the novel of the same name by Min Jin Lee and created and written by Soo Hugh, “Pachinko” is a sweeping and emotional story of love and survival across four generations of a Korean family living under Japanese rule, told through the eyes of a remarkable matriarch, Sunja (Oscar-winner Youn Yuh-jung from “Minari”). The journey continues in Osaka in 1945, and season two includes Lee Minho, Minha Kim, Jin Ha, Anna Sawai, Eunchae Jung, Soji Arai, Junwoo Han, and Sungkyu Kim.
