The entertainment industry has come to a halt in greater Los Angeles. The wildfires and strong winds in Pacific Palisades, the San Fernando Valley, and Altadena have led to a wave of destruction – the most destructive in the city’s history – that has affected every corner of the Hollywood ecosystem. Most studios and networks such as Walt Disney Studios and Universal Studios told employees to stay home and a slew of television programs halted filming.
According to reports, “Abbott Elementary,” “Hacks,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “NCIS,” “All American,” “George & Mandy’s First Marriage,” “Doctor Odyssey,” “Loot,” “Suits LA,” “Ted,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “After Midnight” all paused production. “Fallout,” which shoots in Santa Clarita, has now pushed a restart of filming originally scheduled for after the holiday break.
The Critics Choice Awards, originally scheduled for Sunday, have been pushed two weeks to Sunday, January 26. The annual BAFTA Tea party scheduled for Saturday is now canceled. The LA premieres of “The Last Showgirl,” “Better Man,” “Wolfman,” “Unstoppable,” and Max’s “The Pitt” have all been canceled.
The fires have destroyed large portions of the Pacific Palisades neighborhoods. The Village, a walkable portion of the area with restaurants and stores was completely destroyed. The homes of actors Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, Diane Warren, James Woods, Ana Farris, and Ricki Lake, among others. were all destroyed by the fire.
