“The Iron Claw”
Based on the tragic true story of the Von Erich brothers, Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, and Harris Dickinson star as members of the wrestling dynasty family. The film follows the professional life of Kevin Von Erich (Efron) as he and his family seek fame while battling multiple family tragedies. Maura Tierney, Holt McCallany, and Lily James also star.

“Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom”
The latest DC film to hit theaters this year following “The Flash” and “Blue Beetle,” the sequel “Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom” arrives five years after the original “Aquaman.” James Wan directs with Jason Momoa returning as the titular character who most protest Atlantis from a new threat. Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Nicole Kidman also star.

“All of Us Strangers”
Andrew Haigh directs Andrew Scott, Paul Mescal, Claire Foy, and Jamie Bell in his latest feature following the 2018 film “Lean on Pete.” Loosely based on the 1987 novel “Strangers” by Taichung Yamada, the story follows Scott’s Adam, who, one day, finds that his deceased parents are currently alive and living in his childhood home, all while discovering more about himself while in a new relationship with his neighbor.

“Ferrari”
Adam Driver stars in “Ferrari” from director Michael Mann. Based on the biography “Enzo Ferrari: The Man, the Cars, the Races, the Machine” and adapted by Troy Kennedy Martin, the film follows the life of Enzo Ferrari, who founded the car manufacturer Ferrari S.p.A. Penélope Cruz, Shailene Woolley, Sarah Gabon, Gabriel Leone, Jack O’Connell, and Patrick Dempsey also star.

“The Color Purple”
Blitz Bazawule directs the second film adaptation of “The Color Purple,” the first since the 1985 film by Steven Spielberg. Based on the musical of the same name adapted from the novel by Alice Walker, this interpretation stars Fantasia Barrino, Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Halle Bailey, and Phylicia Pearl Mpasi. The film follows the life of an African-American woman living in the early 1900s South and her struggles.

“The Boys In The Boat”
The latest directorial effort by George Clooney follows the University of Washington crew team who would go on to participate in the Men’s eight at the 1936 Summer Olympic Games in Berlin. Written by Mark L. Smith and based on the book of the same name by Daniel James Brown, the film stars Callum Turner and Joel Edgerton.

Honorable Mentions: Elsewhere in the month, there’s the family drama “Our Son” starring Billy Porter and Luke Evans as a married couple whose decision to get a divorce leads to stressful custody battles for their son, out December 8. Wim Wenders returns for the documentary “Anselm,” which explores the art of sculptor Anselm Kiefer, shot in 3D and 6K resolution, out December 8 via Janus Films. Lastly, the R-rated romantic comedy “Anyone But You” starring Glenn Powell and Sydney Sweeney from director Will Gluck is in theaters on December 22.
