Rumors of the demise of Paul Feig’s sequel to “A Simple Favor” starring returning leads Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick have been greatly exaggerated as Amazon MGM Studios confirmed to us that the film is officially alive and well. Alongside the news that “Another Simple Favor” is heading to the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas, on March 7 before its streaming debut at Prime Video in early May.
If you’re not familiar with it, a rumbling online suggested the studio was shelving the project, only for writer/director Feig to state on social media in January, “This is totally BS. Sorry.”

Of course, the update from Amazon MGM Studios should be the end of this specific rumbling, and thankfully, it didn’t take much time for everything to be finalized concerning the film’s release. Unfeathered speculation surrounding the fate of the film should stop at this point.
However, given the bizarre negativity being spewed at Lively (assumed to be connected to her public and legal dust-up with Justin Baldoni over unprofessionalism and sexual misconduct on the set of “This Ends With Us”), we shouldn’t be surprised if more wacky/fabricated rumors keep popping up linked to other Lively projects.
The studio has provided us with a logline for the sequel, which reads as follows:
“Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) reunite on the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman. Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square.”
On May 1, you can stream “Another Simple Favor” on Prime Video.
