17 Films To Watch In March: ‘Mickey 17,’ ‘Black Bag,’ ‘The Actor’ & Many More

An overwhelming wealth of films is hitting our screenings this March, and the month is starting impossibly strong with the release of “Mickey 17.” Beyond the highly anticipated Bong Joon-ho and Robert Pattinson team-up, there are plenty of festival favorites from the 2024 film festivals and the most recent Sundance. There are plenty of genre films, with sci-fi and horror getting a good spotlight, primarily through independent filmmaking. 

But there are big titles too, from a new Disney remake to the Russo Brothers enlisting all their previous stars to appear in the latest adventure film from Netflix. From surrealist horror to introspective character-driven dramas, here’s everything to watch in March.

Mickey 17
Director Bong Joon-ho returns following his major success with the Oscar winning 2019 film “Parasite.” Robert Pattinson stars in “Mickey 17” as a disposable employee who goes on dangerous expeditions to help colonize an ice world. Once one iteration of Mickey dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo star. 
Release Date: In theaters March 7 via Warner Bros. Pictures. 

The Electric State
The Russo Brothers and Chris Pratt team up again for the sci-fi adventure film, “The Electric State.” Loosely based on the illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag, the film follows an orphaned teenager who traverses the American West with a robot and an eccentric drifter as she searches for her younger brother. The extensive cast includes Millie Bobby Brown, Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Giancarlo Esposito, and Stanley Tucci
Release Date: Available to stream March 7 on Netflix. 

Opus
The Bear” star Ayo Edebiri stars in the directorial debut from writer and director Mark Anthony Green. Edebiri stars as a writer invited to the remote compound owned by a legendary pop star played by John Malkovich. Once she arrives, she’s met with the elusive star’s followers, a mix of sycophants and journalists. Murray Bartlett, Tatanka Means, Young Mazino, Amber Midthunder, and Juliette Lewis also star. 
Release Date: In theaters March 14 via A24

Black Bag
The prolific Steven Soderbergh delivers his second film of the year with “Black Bag.” Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender star in this spy thriller as husband and wife who are both legendary intelligence agents. Their happiness is threatened; however, once she is suspected of betraying the nation, he is forced to choose between his country and his marriage. 
Release Date: In theaters March 14 via Focus Features.
