“The Assessment”
The strain of parenthood is given a sci-fi twist in “The Assessment.” Elizabeth Olsen, Alicia Vikander, and Himesh Patel star in the film directed by Fleur Fortuné and written by Dave Thomas, Nell Garfath-Cox, and John Donnelly. Set in the near future, the film follows prospective parents who must pass an initial test in order to prove their suitability for parenthood, followed by a week-long visit from an assessor tasked with testing their parental abilities.

“Ash”
Musician Flying Lotus makes his directorial debut with the science fiction horror film, “Ash,” written by Jonni Remmier. Eiza González and Aaron Paul star in the movie, which follows an astronaut on a distant planet who awakens to find that her crew has been killed. Iko Uwais, Beulah Koale, Kate Elliot, and Flying Lotus star.

“Magazine Dreams”
Written and directed by Elijah Bynum, “Magazine Dreams” follows an aspiring bodybuilder as he struggles to find human connections while ignoring the advice of medical professionals who see the damage he’s doing to his body. The film, starring Jonathan Majors, Haley Bennett, and Taylour Paige, premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.

“The Alto Knights”
Robert De Niro stars in the latest from director Barry Levinson and writer Nicholas Pileggi. This biopic crime drama follows a pair of Italian-American mob bosses, one survives an attempted hit and decides to retire from the Mafia. De Niro is playing double duty as both mob bosses. Rounding out the cast are Debra Messing, Cosmo Jarvis, Kathrine Narducci, Michael Adler, Michael Rispoli, and more.
