Slashfilm reports (via Topless Robot) that the directing duo will hold true to the mythology of the “Jump Street” universe and count the string of outlandish sequels glimpsed during the end credits of “22 Jump Street” part of the series. “We’ve found a way that we love that makes those imagined sequels canonical and yet does something that we haven’t told you about yet,” Lord said. “The sequels are canon.”
Yes, within the context of the world of Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum’s Schmidt and Jenko, all of the sequels are actual things and events that the characters lived through.

So, how exactly would a sequel work then? Could the “Men In Black” crossover still be in play? The filmmakers aren’t telling just yet, but Lord did tell MTV that writer Rodney Rothman came up with “a really outrageous idea for what to do, and how we could take our scorched-earth sequel policy from the end of ‘22 Jump Street’ and do something that hadn’t been explored in those 22 sequels and simultaneously tell the next chapter in the story.”
