You might have noticed that Variety recently told us that songs used in trailers are important. Apparently, it’s a key promo tool. Gee, thanks, what a revelation. With that said, the new Gavin Rossdale single, “Love Remains the Same” (remember him from Bush and Gwen Stefani arm-candy/father of her baby fame?) is being used in the trailer to the new romantic drama, “Nights in Rodanthe.” The synopsis is thus:
Two unhappy people’s lives become entwined when they have a life changing romance. Adrienne (Diane Lane) is a woman who’s trying to decide whether to stay in her unhappy marriage or not. Her life changes when Paul (Richard Gere) , a doctor who is traveling to reconcile with his estranged son, checks into an inn in a North Carolina beach town where she is staying.
Who will this appeal to? The same 10, 000 visitors who keep visiting our offhanded stories about the music in “PS I Love You,” and “August Rush,” i.e. a lot of people, and they’re not necessarily our crowd, but man, they’re obsessive in their own right. Don’t scoff too much. Your mom has the right to enjoy a movie too.
