Got a Tip?

‘Sorry For Your Loss’ Trailer: Elizabeth Olsen & Kelly Marie Tran Deal With The Sudden Loss Of A Loved One

Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and now Facebook. The new contender for original content, Facebook Watch goes big with big names in their upcoming dramedy “Sorry for Your Loss.” Since their short press release earlier this year (our article on it here), we are finally getting details on the new project. Created by playwright Kit Steinkellner (“Z: The Beginning of Everything”), “Sorry for Your Loss” follows the story of a young widow dealing with the sudden death of her husband and the unexpected struggles this hardship causes in her family life. Yet despite the heavy topic, this ten-episode half-hour series promises a refreshing view on grief, loss, and mental illness.

With James Ponsoldt (“The Spectacular Now,” “The Circle”) directing and Elizabeth Olsen, of ‘Avengers‘ fame, as the lead and executive producer, ‘Sorry’ was already turning heads with their star-studded line-up when it was announced. Now, there’s someone even more exciting added to the list— Kelly Marie Tran, a new name in the business who made her film debut in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” as Rose Tico.

Tran stole our hearts with her adorable and courageous character in ‘The Last Jedi’, so it will be quite the turn-around to see her portray the struggling, drug-addicted sister in ‘Sorry’. If anything, this will give Tran the opportunity to demonstrate the wide range of her acting skills and give us the opportunity to watch her career progress. Plus, seeing her work with Olsen, another franchise expert, is sure to be interesting. Scarlet Witch meets the Star Wars rebel? Uh, yes please!

Facebook Watch’s new show will also star Janet McTeer (“Me Before You,” “Jessica Jones”) as the mother and Mamoudou Athie (“The Get Down”), as the late husband.

One good thing for your wallet, it doesn’t look like Facebook Watch is going to be costing anything to stream. Instead, they are going the commercial route, making a profit by placing ads throughout each video (hey, it’s Facebook, they’re not going to pass up on a chance to make money).

“Sorry for Your Loss” will debut on September 18 on Facebook Watch. Watch the trailer below:
