'Adèle Blanc-Sec' Trailer Looks More Like Indiana Jones Than Indiana Jones

Back in February, we had a first taste of Luc Besson’s forthcoming fantasy adventure “Les Aventures Extrodinaire d’Adele Blanc-Sec,” and the latest full length spot making the rounds for the film only confirms our initial feelings on the film.

As we wrote back then, the film comes off like a female fronted “Indiana Jones,” only with a lot more fun and imagination than that franchise has showed of late. The film is the first in a projected trilogy of films based on the nine-volume series by French cartoonist Jaques Tardi. Set in 1912, Adèle Blanc-Sec is a reporter who, according to the AFM synopsis, “fearlessly battling crooks, corrupt politicians, demon worshippers and mad scientists” as “a 136 million-year old pterodactyl egg on a shelf in the natural history museum has mysteriously hatched, and the bird subjects the city to a reign of terror from the skies.”

The trailer looks like a lot of fun, and features some pretty spectacular special effects and digital work to recreate the era. We’re sort of excited for this one and hopes it makes its way to our shores soon.

“Les Aventures Extrodinaire d’Adele Blanc-Sec” opens in France on April 14th and stars Louise Bourgoin, Gilles Lellouche and Mathieu Amalric.
