The first trailer for “Kiss Of The Spider Woman,” director Bill Condon’s return to the movie musical genre, has arrived. Slated for theatrical release on October 10, 2025, this new adaptation reimagines the Tony Award-winning stage musical and the groundbreaking 1976 novel by Manuel Puig with a star-studded cast.
The film premiered to strong buzz at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and is set for theatrical release on October 10, 2025.

The film is set in a prison cell in an unnamed Latin American country, where two men forge an unlikely bond. Diego Luna (“Andor,” “Y Tu Mamá También”) stars as Valentín, a hardened political prisoner, opposite breakout star Tonatiuh (“Promised Land”) as Molina, a flamboyant window dresser imprisoned for public indecency. Their conversations become a lifeline in confinement—none more vivid than Molina’s retelling of an escapist Hollywood fantasy starring his screen idol, the glamorous diva Aurora, played by none other than global icon Jennifer Lopez (“Hustlers,” “Out of Sight”), who also executive produces.
Condon, best known for “Dreamgirls” and “Beauty and the Beast,” seems perfectly made for this adaptation. The film is accompanied by the score of John Kander and the poignant lyrics of Fred Ebb.
“Kiss of the Spider Woman” is, in Condon’s words, “about the power of storytelling as survival. It’s about two men who couldn’t be more different finding connection, healing, and freedom in the darkest places.”
Adapted for the screen by Condon himself, with source material from Puig’s novel and the book by celebrated playwright Terrence McNally, “Kiss of the Spider Woman” opens in theaters nationwide on October 10, 2025, via Roadside Attractions.
