Kevin Bacon Wore A Disguise To Be Normal For A Day & Hated Waiting In Line For A Coffee: "This Sucks"

It’s interesting to see how different Hollywood figures react to being famous. There are folks like Daniel Day-Lewis, who would regularly go back to his normal life between gigs. You have Terrence Malick who doesn’t even really do interviews at all. But then on the extreme other side, apparently, is someone like Kevin Bacon.

Speaking in a Vanity Fair interview, Kevin Bacon talked about the fact he has two new movies being released close together— “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” and “MaXXXine.” But he also talked about a social experiment he conducted where he put on a disguise and walked around as a regular person for a day. And guess what? He absolutely hated it.

“I went to a special effects makeup artist, had consultations, and asked him to make me a prosthetic disguise,” Bacon said about the preparation for his little social experiment.

Remember, this wasn’t for prep for a role and it wasn’t for some sort of prank show. This was just something Bacon wanted to do for himself. So, how did it go? Not well, according to Bacon.

“People were kind of pushing past me, not being nice,” explained the actor. “Nobody said, ‘I love you.’ I had to wait in line to, I don’t know, buy a fucking coffee or whatever. I was like, ‘This sucks. I want to go back to being famous.’”

Now, as a normal person, you can react to this in a number of ways. First, and probably the instant reaction from most other people, is the shock at how wild that comment is. It definitely comes across as a wee bit entitled. That said, it’s also pretty funny, right? It’s funny to see someone like Kevin Bacon realize what non-famous people deal with on a day to day basis. Yes, that includes waiting in line for a coffee. And no, you don’t walk around and get bombarded by adoring fans.

It’s also funny to see someone who has been famous for most of his life react to not being famous. It would appear that Bacon isn’t ready to retire from the limelight, huh?
