At long last, Kogonada‘s “Big Bold Beautiful Journey” hits theaters later this Fall. What took Sony Pictures so long to get the film ready? Nobody really knows, but the studio quietly pushed its release date from May to September 19 earlier this year, and there’s been next to nothing about the film in terms of sneak previews.

That is, until now. And while a 10-second teaser for an official trailer isn’t really a lot, it is, for all intents and purposes, our first look at Konogada’s follow-up to 2021’s “After Yang,” and that’s more than enough to get the hype train rolling. A romantic fantasy, “Big Bold Beautiful Journey” stars Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell as two strangers who meet at a wedding and embark on an adventure together: one that may involve time travel. That sounds like a much larger scope than the one of Kogonada’s 2017 debut “Columbus,” but then that film was also a tale of two strangers whose meeting changes them forever, so expect big things from this one.
Along with Robbie and Farrell, “Big Bold Beautiful Journey” also stars Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Billy Magnussen, Sarah Gadon, Brandon Parea, Chloe East, Hamish Linklater, and more.
Kogonada directs a script by Seth Reiss for “Big Bold Beautiful Journey.” Reiss also leads producers on the film with Dan Friedkin, Youree Henley, Bradley Thomas, Ryan Friedkin, and Gino Falsetto.
