‘Sinners’ Trailer: Ryan Coogler’s Vampire Movie Starring Michael B. Jordan Arrives March 2025

Did Ryan Coogler’sSinners,” the brand new title of his forthcoming vampire film, derail Marvel’sBlade”? Hear me out. Marvel’s film was originally a period vampire film with a Black lead (Mahershala Ali) set in the 1920s. And Coogler’s film, starring Micheal B. Jordan, is also a period vampire film set during the Jim Crow South, exact years tbd. Yet Coogler’s film got to the finish line way earlier, and “Blade” scrapped its plan to be a period film piece, so maybe Marvel decided two black-led vampire period thrillers wouldn’t be sustainable in the same marketplaces? Who knows, but it’s also somewhat ironic that Coogler, being a Marvel alum with the two “Black Panther” movies, beat his pals to the punch.

Regardless, that’s some good setup for “Sinners,” a supernatural vampire movie that has been mysterious and under super wraps for a long time, aside from a few leaks pointing to a film set sometime that appears to be around the 1920s or 30s. But the current is finally being pulled back with a new trailer that reveals that Jordan plays twins in the movie. Of course, the movie’s plot centers on two brothers (Jordan) trying to leave their troubled lives behind and return to their hometown to start again—only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.

Here’s the official synopsis:

From Ryan Coogler—director of “Black Panther” and “Creed”—and starring Michael B. Jordan comes a new vision of fear: “Sinners.” Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers (Jordan) return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back. “You keep dancing with the devil, one day he’s gonna follow you home.”

The film features a big ensemble cast too, including Delroy Lindo (maybe not so ironically once cast as one of the “Blade” villains), Jack O’Connell, Jayme Lawson, Wunmi Mosaku, Omar Benson Miller, Hailee Steinfeld, Li Jun Li, and Lola Kirke.

Coogler wrote the script, directed it, and produced it alongside Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian. Autumn Durald Arkapaw, known for shooting “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” is the director of photography.

Warner Bros. has set a March 7, 2025 release date for “Sinners.” Watch the first trailer below.
