Deadline reports that Mia Threapleton is the latest to join Chazelle’s untitled next film, apparently a prison drama, but that remains unconfirmed. It’s Chazelle’s first movie since 2022’s divisive “Babylon,” and a pivot from the Evel Knievel biopic he had in the works. The director also produces alongside his spouse Olivia Hamilton via their Wild Chickens Productions banner. The project is Chazelle’s second film in his current first-look deal with Paramount.

A new Chazelle movie is a big get for the up-and-coming Threapleton, whose turn opposite Benicio del Toro in “The Phoenician Scheme” last year was her big screen breakout. Other recent work for the actress includes the Apple TV+ series “The Buccanneers,” which just wrapped shooting its second season, and the 2024 Netflix film “Scoop.” The 25-year-old actress got her start 2014’s “A Little Chaos,” which also starred her mom, actress Kate Winslet.

Who else will Chazelle cast in this next film as it inches towards production? That’s hard to predict with so many project details under wraps. But it’s safe to expect this one won’t have as robust an ensemble cast as “Babylon,” especially since this film will be a smaller-budget affair.

Stay tuned for more details on Chazelle’s latest as they arrive.
