Marvel Television seems to be really tailoring “Daredevil: Born Again” for the fans of those original Netflix shows, as TV division overseeer executive Brad Winderbaum has been making a big push to get those original “Defenders” group of actors back, such as Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Vincent D’Onofrio (The Kingpin), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Wilson Bethel (Bullseye), Jon Bernthal (The Punisher), Kristen Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Finn Jones (Iron Fist), and recent returner spotted on set, Élodie Yung (Elektra). However, we now have a better idea WHY we won’t be seeing Jessica Henwick‘s Colleen Wing (another hero wielding the powers of the Iron Fist), and it sounds like the actress isn’t really interested in coming back, regardless of the project or situation, unless it’s “the right story.”
The actress, who may or may not be coming back to play Bugs in Drew Goddard‘s “The Matrix 5,” is making the promotional rounds to help promote the latest season of Apple TV‘s sci-fi thriller series “Silo,” and she was asked by Inverse about the chances of her big return for “Daredevil: Born Again,” and while she’s had “discessions” with the studio about coming back, she’s ultimately said that she was happy with how the character ended during the Netflix years (a “Daughters of The Dragon” spinoff was in early development just before Netflix pulled the plug).

“I’ve said multiple times over the years, I would love to come back. I know that everyone is back this season. I’m not in this season,” Henwick told Inverse during a recent interview. “We did have discussions about whether I should go back this season. But for me, her story ended with her going off into the sunset. She has the Iron Fist. She’s got Misty by her side. Daughters of the Dragon is happening. She ended on a really great note.”
Henwick went on to say she was ultimately satisfied with how her story ended, but is still open to coming back if they can make it an attractive story: “I’m just not interested in bringing her back unless it’s worth sort of unpicking that happiness, because obviously she can’t be happy on a TV series. If she’s back, something’s gone wrong,” she said. “I would absolutely love to come back, but it would just really have to be the right story.” Adding that Marvel Television had a similar point of view on her return, “They were like, ‘Yeah, we don’t want to bring you back, and then you just stood in the back of the shot.’ So hopefully soon, but I don’t really know.”
Henwick, you might remember, was so hell-bent on coming back to the role that she turned down a part in Destin Daniel Cretton‘s “Shang-Chi & The Legend of the Ten Rings” (opting to do “The Matrix Resurrections” instead), and in the process left the door open for Colleen’s return elsewhere in the MCU and avoiding a secondary part that could end those chances. Well, maybe she’ll be open to the idea (if she’s truly done with Colleen) of another part in the MCU; the Kwannon iteration of mutant villain-turned-anti-hero Psylocke (member of “X-Force” and previously played by Olivia Munn in the Fox era) could be a very meaty role for Asian actresses, as the “X-Men” franchise is going to be fleshed out in The Mutant Saga.
“Silo” Season 3 is currently streaming on Apple TV.
