After it was revealed that Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones) would be making grand returns to the world of “Defenders” for new seasons of Marvel Television‘s “Daredevil: Born Again,” another fan-favorite is making their big entry into the mainline MCU as Elodie Yung has been spotted on set and in-costume as Elektra while sporting her signature dual sais during the filming of Season 3.
The reveal was made via Getty Images, which hosted a recent batch of paparazzi snaps with Yung on the set of the mature Disney+ show, confirming that she’ll indeed be part of the next round of episodes. We’ll also see the return of Wilson Bethel as Bullseye (who has previously campaigned for his own “Special Presentation”), after they attempted to give his murderous villain a bit of a redemption arc in the last season.
Although it’s unclear how Elektra has returned and if Marvel Studios is going to recton some of the supernatural story elements of The Hand (the Netflix show essentially turned them into these undead creatures), given that they’re seemingly making their modern big-screen debut in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” next month and we don’t really have a sense of the horror side of them carrying over in that project.
Last we saw, Yung’s version of Elektra had a building dropped on her in the “Defenders” crossover, and had turned heel in that series, so how exactly she’ll factor into the third season of “Daredevil: Born Again” (now that the cat is out of the bag) is going to be an interesting ride for fans, we’re sure. Whether The Hand will return to the small screen is also a bit of an unknown. Interestingly enough, Marvel had brought back Jennifer Garner as the heroine for a minor revival in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” after playing her in the Ben Affleck-led “Daredevil” movie and had her own mostly forgotten solo spinoff film from 20th Century Fox.
