With the next trailer for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” not slated to arrive until “Doctor Strange” hits theaters next month, there will likely be some slight downtime in Disney and Lucasfilm‘s push for the movie, before they ramp it back up again. So until then, these little passing morsels of news will have to satisfy.
First up, it has been revealed that Valene Kane (“The Fall“) will be playing the mother of Felicity Jones‘ Jyn Erso in ‘Rogue One.’ And given that Kane is actually younger than Jones, the assumption is that her character, Lyra Erso, will only be seen in flashback. However, it’s not clear if that means another actor has been cast to play the younger version of Mads Mikkelsen‘s Dad Erso, Galen. At any rate, Kane has described ‘Rogue One’ to Belfast Live (via Collider) as having “a really edgy independent vibe.” We shall see.
Meanwhile, four more very minor characters have also been revealed (via Making Star Wars) and they are as follows: Moroff, a Gigoran mercenary; the amphibious Rebel Commando Pao who fights with the rebellion; Scarif Stormtrooper Commander who rolls with the Empire; and Hovertank Driver, whose stormtrooper job is self explanatory. My guess is these will be blink-and-miss-em appearances, but hey, I said these were nothing more than morsels.
“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” opens on December 16th.
