‘Alien: Romulus’ Trailer: Fede Alvarez’s Newest Installment Of The Sci-fi Horror Franchise Arrives August 16

Fede Alvarez is no stranger to horror franchises with devoted fanbases. Having directed the “Evil Dead” remake back in 2013. That being said, with “Alien: Romulus,” Alvarez tackles another famed film property that first crept into the psyches of filmgoers back in 1979 with Ridley Scott’sAlien” and was further made iconic with James Cameron’sAliens.” Since the beginning, the movies have provided a degree of shock, disgust, and gore. A primary example is the infamous chest-bursting scene from the original. With the now seventh installment of this sci-fi horror series, the “Don’t Breathe” director looks to add something just as shocking. Knowing how important it is to an eager, critical audience.

“So you always try to find those things, and with these movies, people want the same thing but different,” the film’s director, Fede Alvarez, said in an interview with THR. “If Alien was a band, then we wanted this to be the concert where we play all the hits and then a few more new songs, so they go, “Wow, that’s pretty good!” (laughs.) So that’s the way we approached the whole thing. We want to make sure that we play all those hits and more.”

“Alien: Romulus” has a cast of young and up-and-coming talent headlined by Cailee Spaeny (“Civil War,” “Priscilla”), Archie Renaux (“Morbius,” “The Greatest Beer Run Ever”) and Isabela Merced (“Madame Web,” “Rosaline”). The movie also stars David Jonsson, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu. Alvarez, also known for “From Dusk till Dawn: The Series” and “The Girl in the Spider’s Web,” is not only the director but co-writer, along with Rodo Sayagues.

‘Romulus’ centers around a group of young space explorers who enter an abandoned space station only to encounter greater horror lurking in the shadows. xpect xenomorphs and awesome homages to the original two films.

Set between the events of Alien and Aliens, the story concerns a group of young space colonists who, while scavenging a derelict space station, come face to face with the most terrifying life form in their universe.
