Amazon Enlists Sterling K. Brown & Randall Park For Action Comedy

Comedic actor Randall Park (“Always Be My Maybe,” “Ant-Man & The Wasp“) is coming off a popular supporting role in Marvel Studios‘ first canonical entry into the world of television with “WandaVision,” reprising his MCU role of FBI Agent Jimmy Woo. It looks like he’ll be teaming up with another Marvel actor for an untitled action-comedy at Amazon Studios.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Park and “Black Panther” actor Sterling K. Brown (“Hotel Artemis,” “The Predator“) will play two estranged childhood friends that find themselves on the opposite sides of the law. The two will have to work together to clear their names and combat an international criminal enterprise. It sounds like a great opportunity to give us a solid buddy action pic, and we’ll be excited to see who they cast as those international criminals.

They mention the project is similar to Walter Hill’s “48 Hours” that starred Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy.

Screenwriter Alex Tse is behind the project, previously behind Zack Snyder‘s “Watchmen” and the Hulu biopic series “Wu-Tang: An America Saga.”

A director wasn’t named, but the pairing of Brown and Randall should be attractive enough, given the two seasoned actors should help elevate the material. It’ll be interesting to see if we’ll see Park’s Jimmy Woo return shortly or not.

Brown recently signed on to star in another Amazon Studios action film, “Blue Coyote,” penned by Derek Kolstad (“John Wick,” “Nobody,” “The Falcon & The Winter Soldier“) and will see the feature film debut of director Hanelle M. Culpepper (“Star Trek: Discovery,” “Anansi Boys“).
