Got a Tip?

AMC Renews ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ For Fourth And Final Season

Tonight, the season three finale of “Halt And Catch Fire” will air on AMC, but it will also mark a beginning of sorts….of the end. The network has renewed the acclaimed computing series for a fourth season, but sadly for fans, it will be the final one.

Starring Lee Pace, Scoot McNairy, Kerry Bishé, Mackenzie Davis, and Toby Huss, the drama is set in the burgeoning world of personal computing in the 1980s, which is a pretty rich premise for a series. And while notices have generally been very good, it hasn’t quite caught fire in the same manner as other current AMC shows like “The Walking Dead” or “Better Call Saul.” But at least the creators will have an opportunity to wrap up the story right with the end in sight.

“First off, we’ve been incredibly fortunate to have a creative partner in AMC that has nurtured us from new writers into showrunners over these past three seasons. It has been our great privilege to watch the world of ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ expand and mature in that time, powered by our incredible cast, our exceptional crew, our absurdly talented writers, and our producing partners at Gran Via, all of whom have come to feel like our family,” showrunners Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C. Rogers said in a statement. “In this fourth and final season, we are excited to end the show on its own terms and to give our story, these characters, and our fans the conclusion they so richly deserve.”

Well, looks like after I’m done catching up with “Rectify” (which starts its fourth and final season this month), “Halt And Catch Fire” will be next on my list. The fourth season will run ten episodes, and likely air next year. [Variety]
