‘Long Bright River’ Trailer: Amanda Seyfried Plays A Cop Investigating A Murder During The Opioid Crisis

How does an officer’s past connect to recent murders? “Long Bright River” sees a Philadelphia neighborhood dealing with the opioid crisis and a series of unsolved homicides. One officer finds an especially troubling connection to the events, seeing painful truths come into focus. The series is based on Liz Moore’s bestselling novel — with the author additionally credited as writer and executive producer.

Showrunner, director, and writer Nikki Toscano found Moore’s writing an interesting alternative to common misconceptions.Perhaps what drew me in the most was the possibility of what this show could achieve in its ambition to upend stereotypes,” Toscano wrote. “of those born into poverty and addiction, of those engaging in sex work, of those who have been written off or marginalized after they’ve seemingly fallen through the cracks of their community, and finally, of those engaged in police work.”

Academy Award nominee and Emmy award winner Amanda Seyfried stars, also serving as executive producer on the series. Nicholas Pinnock, Ashleigh Cummings, Callum Vinson, and John Doman round out the regular cast. Recurring guest stars include Dash Mihok, Britne Oldford, Matthew Del Negro, Harriet Sansom Harris, Patch Darragh, and Perry Mattfeld.

Long Bright River is a suspense thriller series that tells the story of Mickey (Amanda Seyfried), a police officer who patrols a Philadelphia neighborhood that is hard-hit by the opioid crisis. When a series of murders begins in the neighborhood, Mickey realizes that her personal history might be related to the case.
