Got a Tip?

Amy Adams Signs First-Look Deal With HBO & Will Develop ‘Poisonwood Bible’ Series

Amy Adams must have enjoyed her time working with HBO on last year’s “Sharp Objects.” At least, you would have to believe that considering the actress and the network have just signed a major deal to develop more projects together.

Deadline is reporting that Adams and her newly-created production company Bond Group Entertainment have signed a first-look deal with HBO. And not only that, the partnership is already spawning a project, as HBO announces development on a limited series based on the novel “Poisonwood Bible” by author Barbara Kingsolver.

“Poisonwood Bible” follows the story of Orleanna Price, a woman who is married to an evangelical missionary. Price takes her and her four children to Belgian Congo during the turmoil that erupted in 1959. As you might imagine, the drama soon follows as Price and her family have to figure out life in a newly-independent African nation.

As of now, there’s no word on who’s going to star in the series. However, you can’t help but think that Adams is eyeing the lead for herself, as it seems perfect for her. That being said, Adams is a very busy lady and may truly want to stay behind the scenes on this project.

As mentioned, Adams recently appeared as the lead in HBO’s acclaimed series “Sharp Objects” and is likely to earn an Emmy nomination (and win) later this year for her efforts. She was also seen in the Oscar-nominated film “Vice,” and will soon be seen in the thriller “The Woman in the Window,” based on the best-selling novel of the same name.
