Christmas and zombies and music… oh my!
In an article about “How It Ends” we wrote, “One of the best things about the apocalypse thriller genre is that most of the time, the films each have a different spin on how the world ends. The typical takes include the classic monster and/or alien invasions or various natural disasters occurring, but some like to just keep the mystery tightly under wraps.” Such was the case with “How It Ends;” and, now, just when you think there couldn’t be any more variations of zombie movies, is the case with “Anna and the Apocalypse.”

In the new trailer for “Anna and the Apocalypse,” you don’t necessarily see what causes the apocalypse; however, it is clear that as the city sleeps, something is going down. This is a film that I would say looks more like “Zombieland” meets “Sing Street” rather than “Shaun of the Dead” meets “La La Land,” but if we’re being honest here, both matchups give me hope that this film will be interesting.
“Anna and the Apocalypse” is directed by John McPhail and stars Ella Hunt, Malcolm Cumming, Ben Wiggins, Sarah Swire, Christopher Leveaux, Marli Siu, Mark Benton, and Paul Kaye.
The film opens Nov. 30 in select theaters and will expand nationwide December 7, 2018.
Here is the official synopsis:
A zombie apocalypse threatens the sleepy town of Little Haven – at Christmas – forcing Anna and her friends to fight, slash and sing their way to survival, facing the undead in a desperate race to reach their loved ones. But they soon discover that no one is safe in this new world, and with civilization falling apart around them, the only people they can truly rely on are each other…
