Anthony Hopkins Joins Liam Hemsworth In 3D ‘Arabian Nights’

Yet another classic book is going to get its pages ripped out, and pumped full of CGI and 3D. Anthony Hopkins is in final negotiations to join Chuck Russell’s (“The Mask,” “The Scorpion King”) “Arabian Nights.”

As we previously reported, the film stars Liam Hemsworth as “a young commander who, after his king is murdered in a coup, joins forces with Sinbad, Ali Baba and the Genie from the magic lamp to rescue the queen, Scheherazade.” Hopkins is to set to play the villain “Pharotu, an evil sorcerer who killed Sinbad’s love, a mermaid, and is looking to amass more magic for himself. “

The film is set to go in front of cameras late this summer and really we don’t care. We could only be interested in this if the producers actually got Sinbad (the comedian) to play Sinbad and painted Robin Williams blue, fed him lots of Red Bull and let him loose on the set playing Genie. Yeah, that definitely sounds better.
