Anthony Mackie Says Marvel Is Going To "Revolutionize The Game" With All Of Its Disney+ Series

As we’ve already seen with “WandaVision” and its debut on Disney+, Marvel Studios is going all out with its swath of streaming series coming to the platform. And that doesn’t seem to be slowing down when the next series, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” hits the service in March. According to that series’ star, Anthony Mackie, ‘Falcon’ and the rest of the Marvel Studios shows on Disney+ are going to “revolutionize the game.”

Though you would think that Anthony Mackie would have the utmost faith in Marvel Studios when he was approached to tackle a TV series for the company, he was hesitant. Mackie said he was nervous at first because he thought TV might be a downgrade. “I was nervous, because it was television, because it was streaming, I thought they were gonna water down the quality of it.”

He added, “But having seen it? I think Disney is going to revolutionize the game with these streaming shows because they’re going to show you that they can do the exact same quality of a movie theater, but on television. It’s really impressive. It’s impressive the painstaking amount of time they put into making these shows rival the movies.”

Genre-wise, Mackie says the tone of the show is similar to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” “It stays along [those lines],” he said. “All of them have been Tom Clancy episonage, Jason Bourne-type movies, so they play in that vein, it’s the same feel. Marvel has developed an idea of how they want their shows [to be]… so it plays on that level.”

And even with the ending of ‘Endgame,’ where it’s clear that Sam picks up the shield and accepts the role as the new Captain America, Mackie is hellbent on keeping the mystery alive so that there’s a little intrigue with the ‘Falcon’ series.

“People are like, ‘you’re Captain America,’ and like, that’s not true,” he said. “If you look at the end of ‘Endgame,’ Sam never accepts the shield. You don’t know who Captain America is going to be.”

Ummmm, about that…

“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is set to debut on Disney+ on March 19. You can hear the full interview below.
