After saving the Northern Water Tribe in Season 1, Aang and company are heading into rougher territory. Netflix has released the official trailer for “Avatar: The Last Airbender” Season 2, and the big new arrival is the one fans have been waiting for: Toph, played by Miyako, the fan-favorite Earthbender who joins the Aang Gaang for the next stretch of its journey.
The live-action reimagining of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series returns this summer, with Gordon Cormier back as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Zuko, Elizabeth Yu as Azula, Momona Tamada as Ty Lee, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh, and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai.
Season 2 picks up after Aang, Katara, and Sokka’s bittersweet victory against the Fire Nation at the Northern Water Tribe. From there, the trio regroups and sets out on a new mission: to convince the elusive Earth King to aid them in the growing battle against Ozai and the Fire Nation. That, of course, means moving the story deeper into Earth Kingdom territory, where Toph’s arrival gives Aang a crucial new teacher and the group a very different kind of ally.
The series is executive produced and written by Christine Boylan (“Poker Face,” “Once Upon a Time”), with Jabbar Raisani (“Lost in Space,” “Stranger Things”) serving as executive producer and director. Additional Season 2 directors include Anu Menon, Amit Gupta, and Hiromi Kamata. Dan Lin and Ryan Halprin executive produce for Rideback, with Brendan Ferguson and Albert Kim also serving as executive producers.
“Avatar: The Last Airbender” Season 1 had the difficult job of translating one of the most intensely beloved animated fantasy worlds of the last 20 years into live action. Season 2 brings another major test: Toph, one of the original series’ defining characters, and the Earth Kingdom arc that expands the show’s mythology well beyond Aang’s initial quest.
“Avatar: The Last Airbender” Season 2 premieres June 25, 2026, only on Netflix. Watch the trailer below.
