The Cinema Audio Society announced the nominations this morning for the 54th Annual CAS Awards, a Sound Mixing honor that is often a precursor to the Academy Awards. For films hunting for Oscar nods, such as “Baby Driver,” it was very good news.

This year’s film nominees include “Dunkirk,” “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” “The Shape of Water,” “Wonder Woman” and the aforementioned Edgar Wright summer hit. Potential nominees missing from the field included “Blade Runner 2049,” “Get Out” and “The Greatest Showman.”
The Television nominees were highlighted in four categories by the “Black Mirror” episode “USS Callister,” “Twin Peaks,” “Better Call Saul,” “Game of Thrones,” “Stranger Things,” “The Crown” and “Veep,” among others.
The CAS Awards will be handed out during a ceremony on February 24 in downtown Los Angeles.
