‘Bad Trip’ NSFW Trailer: Eric André & His Buddies Revive The ‘Jackass’ Model For A New Comedy

With the guys from “Jackass” gone from cinemas for the better part of a decade, there’s been a void left for those audiences that enjoy prank-style filmmaking. Thankfully, you won’t have to wait long to see comedians prank random passersby for sport, as “Bad Trip” is coming to theaters in a month.

As seen in the new Red Band trailer for “Bad Trip,” Eric André has gathered some of his famous comedian friends to blur the lines of narrative fiction and reality as they go across the country acting out some horrible pranks in front of real people, who often stand there horrified at what they’re witnessing. Yes, I compared it to the “Jackass” film series, but honestly, it’s more along the lines of the most recent project from those guys, “Bad Grandpa,” where the actors are all performing a very specific story while no one else is in on the joke.

The film stars Eric André, Lil Rel Howery, Tiffany Haddish and Michaela Conlin, along with a ton of unsuspecting, innocent bystanders. The film is directed by Kitao Sakurai. And while Sakurai doesn’t have a ton of feature film experience, he’s a frequent collaborator with André, having worked on various episodes of “The Eric André Show.” But as you might suspect, one of the creative masterminds of the “Jackass” troupe, Jeff Tremaine, is a producer on this film.

“Bad Trip” arrives in theaters on April 17.

Here’s a synopsis:

From a producer of JACKASS and BAD GRANDPA, this hidden camera comedy follows two best friends as they go on a cross-country road trip full of hilarious, inventive pranks, pulling its real-life audience into the mayhem.
